The last one from Sigmatek, it's going to replace the XM-300F. It has almost the same specification, but with a slim design. Furthermore, its price is also attractive around 50 Euro.
Equipped with a Mediatek 1389DE chipset, it does not innovate by its features, but since the last firmware release it makes all that we can expect from it.
The only reproaches we can make are it can't play WMA streams in AVI file and it's not at all compatible with DTS streams (decoded or pass-thru). Otherwise, it can play without problems DivX 3/4/5 and DivX 6 (multi XSUB subtitles and multi audio streams), XviD (including those with option "Packed Bitstream") and subtitles in SRT, SUB, TCT, SMI and SSA format.
A good player for a small investment, wiating the next generation of new players compatible HD, Nero Digital, DivX Pro (with all option), etc. |

Here we go! The new site for the Sigmatek XMB-510 is alive, after a long work to recreate from scratch the new version 3 of the Sigmatek-players site.
This player is really beautiful and can be fixed on a wall, near a flat screen.
This site is going to grow step by step... you can already visit specification, the FAQ and the pictures gallery. |

This new firmware is currently tested by Sigmatek and few users.
At this time no real difference with the 2.19, if it's confirmed, then it could not be available for everybody (to do not take the risk of crashing player for it).
The only one change visible is the possiility to displya 9 thumbnails for JPEG at the same time but there is too a regression: the time counter is displayed when launching first AVI (fixed in 2.19).
Scheduled recorded need to be tested to see if something is better... progressing. |

Here they are, but take care, not a lot of pieces are distributed, so if you're impatient...
The first one to announce availability is Pixmania with the Sigmatek PVR-820 at 350€ (in France and it will be different depending on your country).
Don't hesitate to come to discuss about it in our forum. |

Last news about the specification: the tuner won't be Nicam Stereo and will be a Mono one. Too much sound problems has been encoutered during test.
So the only one difference with the PVR-800 is the second SCART plug (input) added to the wide existing connection. |

As announced previously, the main differences with the Sigmatek PVR-800 are on 2 points:
- 2 SCART instead of one, to have more ways to plug external hardware
- 1 tuner Nicam Stereo, replacing the actual Mono one
This have to be confirmed as soon as a test piece will be sent to me or when someone will buy it.

After testing, it is now available for download and upgrade from this site, and soon from Sigmatek official site. Here you have the list of found improvments:
• Automatic record stops as soon as free space achieves 300 Mb
• Unability to start a programmed or direct recording if there is no more than 400 Mb free on HDD
• Ability to open the DVD tray during recording without stopping the record
• Fix during file renaming: some characters were removed. It will be ok now.
• OSD does not display anymore, by default, the timer when launching DVD, DivX or Live Video from remote control
• The "once" scheduled programs are now correctly removed from the list when ended (need more test)
• Now it's possible to stop a programmed record during recording without loosing it [UPD]

With a different design compared to the other Sigmatek players, the XM-380 Pro also points out by the presence of an USB port.
filoufilou, a lucky user of this player, just come to receive one piece.
He's going to give us his first feed-back.

| 2005/02/17 [ Sigmatek-Players ] : Important changes for Sigmatek After Sale Service! [UPD] |

Sigmatek is not accepting defective equipment under warranty directly from customers any more. You will have to contact your retailer or other supplier.
For example, if you used Pixmania and your player develops a problem, you need to contact them to return the player, not Sigmatek.
For non-French people, probably like you, it's not really important, because you probably already use your retailer in case of a defective player, because your contract is with the seller or retailer, not Sigmatek. Because of this change, Sigmatek will be able to handle your after sales service questions and be able to better serve you!

After long explanations with developpers about the lost of files problem, a new firmware is going to be available with the following enhancements:
- Automatic record stops as soon as free space achieves 300 Mb

And some minor fixes:
- Ability to open the DVD tray during recording without stopping the record
- Fix during file renaming: some characters were removed. It will be ok now.
